NIN sagen MTV Movie Awards ab
Nine Inch Nails-Chef Trent Reznor hat den Auftritt seiner Combo bei den MTV Movie Awards 2005 abgesagt, weil der Sender politische Parteinahme verbietet. "Wir wollten "The Hand That Feeds" mit einem George W. Bush-Konterfei als Bühnen-Hintergrund performen. Das Bild unseres Präsidenten scheint für MTV aber ähnlich anstößig zu sein wie für uns", postete Reznor nicht ohne Ironie auf der NIN-Website.
Die Single aus dem aktuellen NIN-Album "With Teeth" gilt als Kritik an Bushs Irak-Krieg. "The Hand That Feeds" sei eine Warnung vor blinder Hörigkeit gegenüber Autoritäten, gerade wenn ein Präsident seine Nation in einen Krieg führe, schrieb die Los Angeles Times zum Release.
MTV reagierte mit Enttäuschung auf Reznors Absage. "Wir akzeptieren zwar Nine Inch Nails' Standpunkt, waren aber mit ihrer Performance, die im Kern ein einseitiges politisches Statement darstellt, nicht einverstanden." Nun werfen statt Nine Inch Nails am kommenden Wochenende die Foo Fighters - neben Eminem oder Mariah Carey - die Verstärker für die Movie Awards an.

Despite all the controvercy on the whole Trend and Bush saga... Does bush have a guilty concious, who cares if it was on the Irak-war or not. In general the cd is good, i agree with you Uziel, but i much rather prever his older stuff, like Pretty hate mach. and downward spiral...
The Mtv awards we have is unfortunatly MTV UK... so its no good anyway, and when they start with their pop sh#t, i get very anoyed, so i tend not to watch TV too offten...
So what doe you think of the whole NIN, new image? and do you think that this whole Bush/Trend Fiasco is not a promotional thingy?

nein, ich glaube nicht, dass sie die Sache aus kommerziellen Gründen so gestaltet haben / gestalten wollten. einfach ein Statement zum umstrittenen Thema...
Ich finde die Entwicklung von NIN positiv, und hab WT mit zwei erhobenen Fingern begrüßt.
